Evidence-Based Event Curation

EVIDENCE-BASED EVENT CURATION

For TEDx CERN, which took place on 20 Nov 2018, the event organisers wanted the participants to exchange their thoughts and opinions on the specific topics of the event in between the moderated sessions. The outcome of this exchange/these discussions was meant to be curated at the event itself, constantly updated.

THE CHALLENGE
The challenge was in making the participants discuss the event’s topics and share their thoughts and opinions without a moderator or facilitator since this took place during the event’s breaks. Furthermore, the (frequently updated) outcome was meant to be curated.

OUR SOLUTION
We installed multiple “towers”, where people were mingling around. Each tower came with one central truss, on which we mounted tablets that allowed the participants to put in their reflections, findings, proposals. On the top, we mounted screens in order to visualise the outcome.

THE ADDED BENEFIT
We were able to initiate a conversation about the event’s topics in a very light and informal way, without moderation. The live display of the outcome carried the conversation even further, providing valuable input to the event as a whole.
