The CERN Webfest is an annual hackathon based on open web technologies, which usually takes place at CERN in Geneva. Our R&D collaborator, CERN openlab, was forced to turn the Webfest into an online event due to the current Covid-19 pandemic. They relied on our expertise and technical know-how regarding online hackathons, making us co-organiser of the event. Together, we established an online hackathon on a global scale: 400 people from 75 different countries had signed up and submitted over 30 innovations related to the event’s motto ‘working together apart: accelerating collaboration’, making the hackathon a big success.
